Sketchbook update!

these are a few weeks old. Finally got around to watching Andrei Tarkovsky’s “Stalker”… That movie is so brilliant. There are 4 pages in there that i drew while watching it. If you like science fiction and don’t mind doing nothing but sitting and thinking for two and a half hours then you need to see it. Beautiful, smart, subtle. Kubrick was a Tarkovsky fan, you should be too.

Hey ; ) I'm really impressed by your style of drawing and curious how many hours do you spend on drawing every day?

Thanks!!!

I’d say anywhere from an hour to 10 hours, it really depends. On average, i try and draw or paint 3-6 hours a day, but recently (sadly) its been less. I think whats most important is that you do draw EVERY day. With that said i still miss a few.

Big sketchbook update 4: Old work. All from my independent study last semester. I spent 3 months doing nothing but filling a giant sketchbook with invented slums and figuring out architecture. These were all a part of my world building project and are related to this this earlier piece: (http://jettpack.tumblr.com/post/17982907106/a-piece-i-did-a-little-over-a-year-ago-never-had) More to come.

Random sketches. Some are preparation for an oil painting I’m working on of Saint George and the Dragon.

Saint Livinus of Ghent-Work in Progress.
I’ve been super into the early middle ages lately. Paganism. Christianity. etc. Love it. So ive been drawing saints. This is Saint Livinus of Ghent. He was trying to convert a bunch of pagans but while he was preaching they cut out his tongue and decapitated him. In my version, i like to think that his body and head continued to pray.
This is real early. non of my value and colors are in yet. i fucking hate those hands. they are to labored over. probably gonna get rid of them.

A movie poster I did for the 1958 version of “The Fly”. Though I’m a bigger fan of the 1986 version with Jeff Goldblum.
